What does The Ball offer you?
The SF Ball turns 18; grows up and gets all sensible… Not! Join us for our coming of age party - we'll be doing all the stuff you know and love; plus new games, new themes and new stuff!
A fantastic and intense three day social experience that has a unique atmosphere generated by hundreds of enthusiastic attendees.
A warm welcome - Special attention is given to new attendees, with a meet and greet session at the beginning of the weekend, together with a firm emphasis on customer satisfaction that is provided by the entire SFB team.
Star Guests - The opportunity to see your favourite stars from Sci-fi Film and TV and ask them questions during their talks. You can also get up close, as a professional photography service is available through out the weekend along with autograph sessions. Guests are also free to enjoy the fun and are invited to come along and party.
Entertainment - Volunteer to take part our big-screen games GeekBusters and Fantasy Fortunes or simply sit back and enjoy the entertainments provided by our crew. Alternatively you can flex your more creative and cerebral muscles and enter the competitions and quizzes offered throughout the weekend.
Technical wizardry - Television production quality equipment is used in order to bring you an audio visual experience that is second to none: the main stage has 5 full size projection screens and high-standard production equipment is used to record the whole event. Several large screens are dotted around the hotel providing a direct feed of main hall events throughout the hotel.
Fun and Food - Opportunities for Partying abound! Start your weekend with a bang with the official dancers night out at the Friday night disco, then dine in real style on Saturday at our formal and fabulous full 3-course black-tie or fancy dress Banquet with late-night cabaret and dancing until 2am and finally on Sunday sing to your hearts content at the Karaoke-Disco until midnight. The fun just doesn't stop.
Parties - How do we make sure that no SFB Events convention is
ever the same? Easy! Every year we spice things up by
thinking up themes for Friday and Saturday nights!
You are Cordially invited to kick off our 18th Birthday in style.
Friday night's theme is the Pyjama party and the dress code is Pyjama's, nightwear, dressing gowns, teddy bear outfits, slippers & nightcaps! Probably not all of them at once tho…
We'll be starting off the night by playing 'Giant Twister' in the bar area… can you keep your feet on the dots whilst keeping your dignity? The more the night goes on the trickier it becomes! This may have something to do with its distance from the bar.
Then you can join B in re-visiting your childhood by playing the classic 'Crackerjack' game - 'Double or Drop'. Get an answer correct & get a present… get an answer wrong or drop something and get a Cabbage. Three cabbages in your arms & you're out! Be the last one standing & win an instant prize and possibly a sprout.
After that we'll be awaiting a visit by the sandman by playing 'Which Wee Willie Winkie'! Can you spot who the famous star is under that facemask? or hidden behind that night cream? It's only £1 per person to join in the fun & as usual all our profits go to TCT. (Play free if you've bought Nixxie Tax)
All night long the Entertainments crew will be doubling up as popcorn sellers. Buy a small bag for £1 or a large bag for £1.50. Fresh from the machine & just the thing for a night in by the dance floor.
The disco kicks in at the end of the game and then you can slide along the floor in your slippers and partner your teddy bear in the two step…
The Ball itself will be an 18th birthday Prom - so plenty of scope for costumes; Back To The Future, Carrie, High School Musical, Footloose and Back To The Future Part II!
You can dress up just for fun or see if you can impress the celebrity judges by entering the fancy dress competition that takes place after the banquet. Whatever you decide, we have cameras on hand to record your sartorial elegance and you never know, you might even make it on to the DVD.
Add to this the star guests, autographs, celebrity photo sessions and more - it's a weekend that you will remember for the rest of the year!
